Wearing face masks has become part of our everyday lives, and there is no doubt that the science is correct! Wearing a face mask can limit your chances of not only contracting, but spreading any virus.
BUT WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A REUSABLE OR DISPOSABLE FACE MASK?
SINGLE USE VS WASHING AFTER USE
One thing to note is that a reusable face mask MUST BE WASHED AFTER JUST ONE USE.
This is a mistake many of us are making, as we forget that if you have a virus (much like Coronavirus / Covid-19) or if we are in close contact with someone who has a virus, those particles can attach to a reusable face mask which then must be washed.
If you’re like our customers, those who have purchased our Type IIR Disposable face masks, you may find that you will not have the time or resources to wash a reusable mask every day, and therefore a disposable mask may be the better choice.
A Type IIR disposable face mask (not just any disposable mask!!) has a bacteria filtration efficiency of ≥98%, this means that these masks will filter out over 98% of bacteria.
There is not yet sufficient evidence to specify how much bacteria is filtered through a reusable mask, and with that in mind, each reusable mask is different depending on material.
WHAT FACE MASK SHOULD I BUY?
This really depends on you! If you are rarely in close contact with the public, and have the time and resources to wash your mask after every use, the reusable mask may be for you!
BUT If you live or work in a busy environment, having a supply of disposable face masks may be the best solution for you. Masks like our Type IIR face masks can help to keep you and those around you safe from the transfer of bacteria.
